Creation of Creating Lifeless Created Creatures Lively
The first real stop motion film to be created was first thought up by J. Stuart Blackton &
Albert E. Smith
with thier first film being "The Humpty Dumpty Circus" back in 1898.
Using jointed limbs, Smith
moved the dolls into a balanced position due to the lack of
stabilizers, as this film was literally the
first of its kind, and lacked the technology that current
day stop-motion animators use today.
Most stop-motion figures are handmade, extremely flexible,
have many varieties, and even detachable
faces to set facial emotions. However, only using
his daughters play set, Smith was able to create a new
movement in cinema culture.
